The collection features animals (here the fox) that represent my English and New Zealand heritage, symbolising my ongoing exploration of identity and belonging through a connection to place and the creatures that inhabit it. The backgrounds reveal my love for the New Zealand native bush, highlighted by kawakawa leaves, Puriri Moth and Robin. The vintage doilies are a nod to feminine craft and my farming background (tea and scones anyone?). These pieces have me humming old English folk tunes, evoke nostalgia, memory, and a longing for past traditions, which continue to inspire my lived experience every day.
