A celebration of a tiny forest bird and a meaningful creative milestone for 2025.

This Titipounamu (Rifleman) was my ‘Artist’s Choice’ and the final painting in the ‘Birdtober’ challenge I completed in October: 31 paintings in 31 days. I created this whole project alongside my five-year-old daughter, making it one of the most memorable and joy-filled creative experiences of the year.

This miniature captures the delicate scale and cheeky energy of NZ’s smallest bird. Sealed beneath a glossy resin finish and framed with hand-shaped recycled copper, it’s a keepsake that holds both personal significance and quiet forest magic.

The background colour palette chosen for this year’s collection is inspired by the earthy richness of aged copper patina, a theme that will continue into the printed mini Christmas décor that follows.
