Made with ancient Black Maire root, turned over in a paddock on our farm in Pohangina, these statement piece earrings have been lovingly handcrafted. A length of recycled copper (from the Old Commercial Tavern in Ashhurst) runs from the heart to the earring finding, creating a unique design and fun length without the weight.

To showcase the timber, the reverse side has been oiled and the top side has been finished with resin, allowing the grain of the maire to really pop.

The Black Maire (Nestegis cunninghami) tree typically symbolises strength and is one of New Zealand’s hardest timber.
