The Real Work of Art is a body of writing and practice for artists committed to the ongoing work of creative becoming.

It centres the thresholds between one body of work and the next…the ‘in-between spaces’, where practice is tested, persistence is required, and the decision to return and make again becomes an act of courage.

This space is not about arrival, certainty, or recognition. It’s about staying with the work through change, challenge and despondency, it’s about making, offering, resting, and crossing again.

Here we name the invisible work of an artist’s life, the ongoing work that happens long before anything is finished, shared, or seen.

Here, the work is not only the artwork itself.
It is the commitment to return and make art at the crossing.
